Max's Big Boy Bed

My little man is just days away from his 3rd birthday and was VERY ready for a big boy bed. Orange is his favorite color and so we used that as our inspiration for the redecorating in his room. He wanted me to paint his room orange, but settled for this instead. FYI - His dresser is in the closet now to make more room for playing and being an energetic little boy.

new orange valance and orange light

I spray painted his brown M.A.X. orange and put them right back up.
We put some orange bins in his shelf too.

Little boy pretending to sleep in his new big boy bed. Notice the sheets ... construction vehicles!

Wild man!

More pretend sleeping :-)

Farewell Tour

Unfortunately it appears as if fitting two kids in the bike trailer at the same time is a thing of the past. Someone please tell them to stop growing up!

We've been in the house just over 4 months now and my list of things I would like to accomplish around here never gets shorter. I don't mind at all though. I am actually really enjoying freshening things up a bit and making this place ours. Just for "fun" I thought I would make a list of all that we have done in this house since moving in. A Trip to the Coast with Grandpa

Grandpa (Max the Elder) was here for a visit over the long Labor Day weekend. We had a great time. On Saturday Jason, Grandpa, Alia & Max went on an adventure to the coast while Mommy stayed back to teach and paint trim in the dining room (sounds like fun, huh?). Here are some pictures from their time on the beach.

School Shopping

I know what you're thinking ... pictures of school clothes? Really? But, hear me out. I took the kids shopping one morning and when we returned I had them try everything on (I didn't dare try this in the store with both kids by myself). I snapped pictures of them to email Jason so he could see what we had gotten. These pictures are shown in the order they were taken. Please enjoy the comic relief, that is my son, and his super model poses at the end!

real, official, fully functional rain gear for both kids

Her favorite outfit ... can you tell?

That's my boy!

Oaks Park

We have a wonderful (very small) amusement park here in Portland called Oaks Park. Think fair rides, but with a few small roller coasters. During the summer months they do a "preschool morning" twice a week. It is $6.50/child, no cost to grown-ups and they only open the little rides. It is from 9:30-11:30 which is just perfect and then at 11:30 they do a story time and serve cookie and milk. We went twice this summer! Our first trip was with Carson and Landon Pulver and our second trip was with our friends Shanon and "baby" Jack.

TRIP #1

 TRIP #2
We started our day with bagels from Panera (of course).

We tried something new this time and Alia was not a huge fan. Max loved it!

The carousel is a favorite for both kids.

Mommy's favorite part ... This is what happens after a morning at Oaks Park!
