Thanksgiving Video

Thanksgiving

Alia's first Thanksgiving did not exactly go according to plan. She was up on and off all night on Wednesday and Jason and I had a feeling that she wasn't feeling well. By 8:30am on Thursday, she totally crashed. She fell asleep in my arms while I was reading her a book. She spent the better part of the next 4.5 hours or so sleeping in Jason's arms. By mid afternoon, she felt a little better and was able to eat a little bit of Thanksgiving dinner with us. Alia is still not feeling well and Jason is sick too. I am pretty sure that my healthy moments are numbered and that I am next. Yikes!

Alia spent most of the morning in Daddy's arms watching football and the Food Network.

Awake, with Tylenol in her system and enjoying a little Thanksgiving dinner. She LOVED the turkey!!

Getting out some Kleenex ... so helpful!

Giving Daddy kisses ..... This is probably why Jason got sick, but she is just learning to give kisses and they are too cute to refuse!

11 Month Update

It is VERY hard to believe, but Alia is almost ONE! We are just a month away from the big day. Alia is growing up so fast and has started to do some pretty big girl things! Her signing continues to improve. I think she really likes it! She likes being able to tell Mommy and Daddy what she wants. She can now do eat, all done, more, water, book, night night and up with pretty good accuracy. We are working on please, bath and a few others. I am also trying to teach her how to blow kisses :-) It's pretty much ridiculously cute.

When we go in to get Alia in the morning or after naps, she is now standing up and waiting to greet us. She hands us her pacifier when we come in the room. That's her way of telling us that she is ready to be awake and out of the crib.

She is quite the little crawler, cruiser and climber these days. She is getting more and more brave, but I don't think she'll be walking by her birthday. You never know though! She could surprise us!

I don't have any official height and weight stats to report, but if you take a good look at these pictures you can clearly see that she is getting plenty to eat! Check out those cheeks and that belly!

That's What Friends Are For

This is possibly one of the cutest things I've ever seen! Carson was pushing Alia around the house on his dump truck. Alia's chubby cheeks were bouncing and they were both having a great time. Yippee for friends!

It's Harder Than It Looks

I have been stalling teaching Alia how to use a spoon ... I was scared. But, as you can see it is going much better than expected. This was our first lesson and it ended in very little mess. We both walked away and didn't even need a bath afterwards.

Where is the piggy?

Alia loves stuffed animals right now and one of her favorite ones is her piggy (along with bear, kitty, puppy and lamb.) She definitely know the words piggy and bear ... she just can't say them yet :-) In this clip, Alia also demonstrates the proper way to fold a blanket, in case you need some tips.

More!

Here is a cute little clip of Alia riding in the rocking chair with Daddy and using her "more" sign!

All Done

WATER

We are so excited that Alia has started to use some sign language. It has already made life so much easier. She is able to communicate some simple things with us. Her signs don't exactly look like the grown up versions yet, but she does the same thing each time and certainly knows what she wants. Here is a little clip of me getting her to show you the sign for "water". I tried to get her to do "eat" as well, but she saw that the food was already on the table and was not happy with me postponing the delivery of her dinner.

Brushing the Teeth

We have adding brushing the teeth into our morning and night time routines now that we have two little bottom teeth. Alia loves it! So wierd, but true! We tried to capture some of her excitement on video for you.

Daddy's Home

On most nights, Alia is in her highchair eating dinner when Jason gets home from work. She hears the front door and gets very quiet. As soon as she hears footsteps she gets excited and starts calling for him. It is so stinking cute! Finally, Jason and I coordinated so that I could get her reaction on video. I had to set the video camera on the counter and walk away so that she wouldn't just stare at it. She is obsessed with it right now! I love watching her each night when she hears Daddy come home. She loves him so much! It is absolutely precious!
