Max - 4 Months

Max had his 4 month check up today with Dr. Nash. Overall, he is a healthy happy kid. However, we will be scheduling an MRI sometime in the next month to get a closer look at the little bump on his forehead. Odds are that it is just a dermoid cyst, but our pediatrician wants to get a better look at it just to be sure. After that we'll be able to discuss what may or may not need to be done about it.

Max is on new acid reflux medicine now and he likes it SO MUCH better than the other stuff. He takes it easily with no fussing, no spitting it back out and no frustration from Mom or Dad. It's wonderful! Our plan is to continue it until he's 6 months old and then see how he does without it. Many kids start to outgrow their reflux issues at that age. We are keeping our fingers crossed that Max is one of those kids.

Max is a big boy! He weighs 15 pounds, 6 ounces (73%) and is 26.25 inches long (90%). The good news for me is that Max's eating is finally slowing down. He has moved from nursing every 2 hours to more like every 3 hours now. His sleep is improving too! We are working with a sleep coach. She helped me figure out Alia's napping issues when she was about 5.5 months old. She has already helped tremendously with Max. Last night he was asleep by 7pm (fell asleep on his own in the crib), then had a dream feed before I went to bed at 9:30pm, woke up at 3:50am for a feeding before waking at 6:00am for the day! You have no idea what a huge improvement that is. I basically only had to get up once in the night!

Here are a few pictures of Max at 4 months old!

By this last picture, Max was getting a little bored with the photo shoot!

Jason's Birthday and other stuff

Not much is new around here. We are doing some sleep training with Max and we are seeing SOME progress, but we still have a long way to go to be a rested family again. Alia has discovered how to express herself as a true toddler (throwing herself on the ground and then proclaiming, "I can't get up!"). We are still pretty much in survival mode around here but things are getting a little better each day.

In honor of Jason's birthday, I made Colts cupcakes. Unfortunately, it didn't help bring the Colts a victory, but they were yummy. We also went out to dinner. The babysitter came to watch Max (and he really made her work for her money) and Alia had a sleepover with Carson. We had such a great time that we decided that we MUST have at least one date night a month even if all hell breaks loose on the home front while we are gone. It's worth it.

Max actually likes tummy time. If you put him in a position where he can watch Alia run around and play, he'll stay happy on his tummy for a while. He is really trying to roll over from his tummy to back, but hasn't quite made it happen yet.

Max loves sitting in the Bumbo seat and chewing on anything that you give him. If you don't give him anything than he just chews on his fingers!

Alia was so proud of herself for eating cereal in a bowl with milk and a grown-up spoon for breakfast!
