Indy Trip - June 2011

Here are some random, fun pictures from our trip ...

M & M ... Max the Elder and Little Max

Grandpa and his grandsons

Cousins - Wyatt and Alia hanging out in their pjs

Sir and Alia reunited :-)

Sir meeting Mighty Max for the first time

Max had lots of help with his bath time.

Max's favorite thing to do at Uncle Monkey and Aunt Kelly's house was to climb their stairs and make the grown ups chase after him.

Wyatt and Alia sharing a snack at the little table

GG Becky got Alia a cute little Dora purse that had nail polish, lip gloss and chap stick in it. Grammy painted Alia's toe nails for her. It was her very first little pedicure! Alia was very proud and happily showed them off to everyone.

Alia enjoying her very first oreo cookie :-)

Family Reunion

Here are a few pictures from the Hahn/Harris Family Reunion. Jason took Max and went with Mark, Kelly and Wyatt while Alia and I stayed back because she was still not quite healthy enough for all of that fun.

Sick Little Girl

As most of you know by now, Alia was very sick on the front part of our trip back to Indy. It started the night before our flight with a fever and no appetite (which is a big warning sign around here). Then in the middle of the night she threw up. We tried calling expedia to get our tickets changed, but it wasn't going to happen without it costing us about $550 per ticket. So we decided to just wait until it was time to leave, wake her up and make then call then based on how she was feeling. When we woke her up, she perked right up and said, "We are getting on an airplane and going to Indiana. We're going to see all of our friends and family." The perkiness lasted right about until we boarded our flight and then she crashed and slept most of the time. She struggled, but got through the rest of the day and made it to Mark and Kelly's house. That night she was up all night long throwing up and had a fever of 102. She wasn't able to keep anything down. She was one sick little girl. We even took her to the ER to have her checked out. By Saturday she was about 50%, 75% on Sunday and by Monday she was back to herself again ... just in time for us to return home on Tuesday!

Max - 9 Months Old

Mr. Max is 9 months old! He had his well child check with Dr. Nash this morning. He is 30.5 inches (98%) 19 pounds, 13 ounces (38%) and has a big head (96%). All looked good on his check up! We will have to move him out of his infant car seat now because 30 inches is the height limit. I'm totally bummed because I love having the option of just picking him right up in the car seat and letting him sleep when he doses off in the car. Those days are over! Bummer!

Max is now an excellent (and very fast) crawler. He goes all over the place and his new favorite activity is pulling up on things. He likes the new perspective of being "up high" to view things. He loves pulling things off of the coffee table and opening up the cupboards in the playroom. He also likes ringing the doorbell on the playhouse and playing in the play kitchen. A couple of times now he's moved his little feet just enough that we can say he's cruising, but he hasn't really gotten the hang of it yet. He's also tried letting go a few times when he's been standing, but hasn't made a habit of that yet either.

Max is a big fan of food! He's getting more and more into finger foods and less and less interested in that baby stuff on the spoon. His new favorite food is cheese quesadilla :-) He's pretty good with a sippy cup too, but he's discovered how to spit out the water! Such a boy!

As far as sleep is concerned, Max is still going to bed about 7:00pm and waking once in the night for a feeding and then waking at 5:30am(ish) for the day. Dr. Nash said this was still in the range of normal, but gave me some tips for trying to wean him off of that night feeding if we think he's ready. We are certainly ready to try, but aren't going to do anything until after we get back from our trip to Indy. Now is not the time for major changes. Max is doing a great job with his 2 naps and I'm really enjoying being able to rest or get things accomplished around the house while both kids nap at the same time.

Max has a follow up appointment with the neurosurgeon next month and luckily we do not have to have any additional imaging done. Hooray! Just a check in with the doctor and hopefully all of this dermoid cyst stuff with be behind us :-)

Art Project Time

Today we had a little art project time. We were making special projects for Daddy (sh! don't tell). Alia enjoyed using our new little roller tool. Max did his first ever finger painting. I think he enjoyed it, but I had to cut it short when he tried to taste test the paint.

Hair Cuts

We took the kids in to get hair cuts today. It was Max's first haircut and Alia's third. Alia did a great job! She hopped right up in the chair and watched Toy Story while getting her hair cut. She did such a good job that the lady gave her a princess braid and a sucker ... big excitement! Max did a great job too. He was very interested in everything going on in there. He liked watching Toy Story and driving his little taxi cab. He was absolutely fine until the razor thing came out and then he was just annoyed! Both kids are looking pretty sharp and ready for their big trip back to Indiana in a couple of weeks.

Swim Class

Here are a few short clips from the kids last swim class last weekend. As you can see, Max LOVES swimming! Alia likes swim class, but mostly likes walking around in the shallow end. There was no talking her into going down the big purple slide this time.

Playing Babies

Yesterday Alia and Max had a great time playing with her baby doll and its accessories together. It was adorable. Alia would feed her baby doll and then use the pretend food and bottle to feed Max and he just played right along. It was one of the first times that they really played "together" and happily. I got to sit back and watch and RELAX :-)

Group Fitness

Ok, so I don't usually do posts about me, but there is some exciting news in my world. A couple of weekends ago, I attended an initial training to be an instructor for BodyPump which is a weightlifting group fitness class by Les Mills. It was three days long and about 8-9 hours each day. It was brutal and tons of fun all at the same time. I passed that portion of the training and then had to team teach 4 classes and then submit a video of me teaching an entire class. That video is off to the Less Mills office to be evaluated, but in the meantime I am able to teach as I await my official certification. I managed to accomplish all of that in less than 2 weeks because the teacher that was working with me at the gym is going out of town next week and wanted me to sub for her. SO, I'll be subbing for my first two classes next week. It all happened so fast, but it is a ton of fun and I am loving it. I'm hoping to do some subbing throughout the summer as people go on vacation and then maybe even squeeze my way into having my own class eventually :-) Here are few pictures from my training class a few weekends ago.

Sunday Dinner

One of our little routines around here is that Jason makes Sunday dinner. He loves to cook and he loves to do long involved recipes. He doesn't have time during the week so on Sunday he goes all out. Last weekend, he had a special helper in the kitchen. Alia helped brush the red pepper with olive oil and salt and pepper them ... needless to say the red pepper sauce ended up being a hair too salty, but a certain little two year old had tons of fun helping!
