Max - 10 Months Old

This blog post is just a few days late, but our little guy is now 10 months old. It is so hard to believe that I am starting to plan his birthday party! Crazy! What a year it has been too!

Max is up to all sorts of great tricks. One of his newest and most favorite activities is climbing! He loves to climb on top of the little picnic table that we have, he loves to climb up on Alia's little step stool in the bathroom and he'll pretty much make an attempt to climb just about anything. He goes for it, head first with all the determination he can find. He is also getting very good at cruising around. He loves to push the little shopping cart and the little baby doll strollers around. I fear for my life when he starts walking! I fear for poor Alia when he can keep up with her. Oh my!

In breaking news, Max has now slept all the way through the night (7:15pm - 5:45am) two nights in a row. I'm really hoping that this trend continues! This family could really use to catch up on its beauty sleep :-)

Some of Max's current favorite foods are waffles, blueberries sweet potato fries and macaroni and cheese! He is not a fan of anything green and he really could do without yogurt in his life but he'll choke it down if he's hungry enough.

Max has started "giving kisses" this week and its about the cutest thing you've ever seen in your life! No real words are coming out yet, but that doesn't stop him from talking non-stop. He has a lot to say, he just hasn't figured out how to say it yet!

(On a little side note, you can tell from the photos that follow, that getting him to sit still in the chair while I take his picture is getting to be extremely difficult.)

Cookies

My mom decided to do a baking/decorating cookie project with Alia just for some fun big girl time. The project started out in the morning with just getting the cookies out and baked (we took a shortcut and used pre-made dough ... shhhh!!). Then they finished in the afternoon with the decorating. All I did was watch and I was very entertained :-)

Quite a look huh? As you can see, Alia is most excited about the eating portion of this project!

Busted doing a little sampling :-)

Working very carefully to make each cookie looking just right.

Rose Gardens

On Friday, we went up to the Rose Gardens. We played at the playground and then walked through the gardens and found a great spot for a picnic lunch. The kids ran (and crawled) around a bit and then we headed back to the car. We got great exercise, saw beautiful flowers and views and had a lot of fun!

I thought this rose looked absolutely perfect!

A great view of one little hill in the Rose Gardens.

Alia loves to stop and smell the roses :-)

Poor Grammy offered to push the stroller up the hill ...
Alia helped a little until she got too tired and jumped in too.

Gymboree

Max and I have started going to Gymboree on Thursday mornings while Alia is at school. I've been waiting for there to be a class at his age level during that time and he's finally old enough for the level 3 class. Hooray! We've only gone three times so far, but it is safe to say that it's a BIG hit. Max loves crawling all over everything, climbing up the slides, popping bubbles, playing with balls and making new friends. He is pretty much fearless! It is a completely different experience doing Gymboree with him than it was with Alia. The little guy is so full of energy and just wants to be right in the middle of everything!

Party Time

Last weekend was Alia's best friend Carson's 3rd birthday party. His mom is a party planner and everything was ridiculously cute! His party was at the same park where we will be having Max's 1st birthday party ... assuming weather permits.

Max trying on his construction hat ... still a popular play thing at our house right now

Big sister checking on her little bro to make sure he's having fun

Silly little girl always hamming it up for the camera

FINALLY taking a bite of that cupcake ... It takes the kid forever to eat a cupcake because she savors the frosting for so long. Everyone else was done and long gone playing again and she was still eating!

Backyard Fun

Here are a few pictures of Max and Alia playing in our backyard the other day. As you can tell, it wasn't a gorgeous day, but it certainly was nice enough to go outside. Both kids love being out of the house and are pretty creative with finding ways to keep busy!

BIG NEWS!

I'll spare you all of the details, but let's just say that we had a major accomplishment in the potty training department on Wednesday. Alia had known for some time now that a pink donut from Starbucks would be her prize. So after the big moment we packed up and headed right out to get her the donut. She cherished every last little sprinkle on there and thoroughly relished in her victory!!

4th of July

We spent the 4th with our friends Tom, Simone and Nick. We went over to their house after nap time and let the kids play in the pool, sandbox and on the slide before doing some grilling and enjoying a delicious meal. Max was the biggest fan of the pool and kept trying to climb up the slide. He'd slip and fall down and then get right back up and try it again. He played until his lips started to quiver and we pulled him out. He was not a huge fan of us at that point.

Fun Times

Here are a few clips from a random Sunday night here at the Douglas house ...

Berry Picking

This weekend we did a little berry picking and we had so much fun we decided we might try to go back again next weekend when there are more raspberries ready for us to eat ... I mean pick! We picked strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Max supervised the strawberry picking, rode along in the Ergo carrier with Mommy during the raspberry picking and then Alia and Daddy handled the blueberries on their own. Tons of fun and so delicious!

Alia is in charge of quality control!

Max helped Daddy pick a few strawberries.

We quickly learned that you have to be careful to remove the stem and leaves before eating!

Everybody hard at work ...

Max's Baptism

Max was baptized at St. Monica Catholic Church in Indianapolis on Sunday, June 26, 2011 with his Uncle Will as his Godfather and his Aunt Katie as his Godmother. We were fortunate to be joined by tons of our family members. Max had all 7 of his grandparents there, 5 great grandparents, 6 aunts and uncles, 4 cousins and many other great aunts and uncles and extended family members (and a couple of friends too :-) Max did a great job but was done with being held by the end of the ceremony. Here are a few pictures from the day ... wish we could have taken more!

A rare picture of Jason and I together with no children.
