More Max pictures ...

The Family of Four

Everyone has been very curious about how Alia is reacting to being a big sister now and frankly, the jury is still out. She came up to the hospital twice to visit while we were there. The first day she was a little confused and was just trying to figure out the new place that she was in. But, she knew who baby Max was and had been looking at his pictures with Miss Jamie before they had come to visit. She knows that he is her baby brother and she is the big sister. She is very interested in him, but just hasn't exactly figured out what to do with him yet and how to interact with him. On the way home, sitting next to Max for the first time in their car seats she said, "Come here baby Max. I want to hug him." Tonight she enjoyed touching his little feet and even gave him a night-night kiss before bed.

Welcome Max Andrew!

Max Andrew Douglas
Born - 9/17/2010 @ 3:08am
8 pounds, 1 ounce - 20.5 inches

I was hoping for a VBAC delivery and even went into labor and had my water break on its own. However, very shortly after things really started to heat up, some complications developed and it became apparent that a c-section was the only option and it needed to happen quickly. So, at 3:08am we heard Max make his very first squeaky cry. Luckily, he was in absolute perfect health. I had a few issues with bleeding, fever and general nausea and yuckiness, but we all made it home healthy and happy (and still recovering) today.

Max had to be checked out by the NICU team right after birth, but was absolutely perfect and had an APGAR score of 9 five minutes after birth!

Baking Cookies

Alia helped me bake cookies for the first time last weekend. She loved standing up on the stool and watching the mixer. She also really enjoyed banging measuring cups and taste testing the chocolate chips. She was totally bummed out when all the mixing was done. We'll definitely have to do some baking again soon!

Cuteness

After church today, we had Alia model her super cute outfit sponsored by Grandpa Douglas :-)

Corn Maize

Last weekend we went to The Pumpkin Patch at Sauvie Island. We attempted the Corn Maize, but with toddler in tow and two directionally challenged parents, we didn't get very far. Alia loved going in the barn and seeing the animals. Her favorite was the bunny rabbit. She also liked climbing up the hay stacks with Daddy. They went down a big inflatable slide too, but that got mixed reviews.

Balloon

Here is a short little video clip ... pretty self explanatory!

Bear Cave

We've been to the zoo a thousand times, but on our last trip Alia discovered the polar bear cave. She loved climbing in and out and playing in it with other kids. It took some bargaining to get her out and move on!
