A Random Wednesday Afternoon

Enjoy a clip of a random afternoon play session here at the Douglas house. Alia is enjoying one of her, now standard, pajama afternoons. The kids were happily playing together and sharing! Glad I managed to capture that on video. Jason and I decided that we need to do more video of just them doing whatever, to help us remember some day what it was like to just hang out and play with a one year old and a three year old!

Just because they are cute ...

Putting her baby to bed ... She insists on turning out the lights when she does this and making the rest of us go about our business in the dark.

They were sitting in the chair together playing the Thomas matching game on the iPad and then Alia said, "Go get the camera! Take our picture! Don't we look cute!"

Enjoying her Thomas coloring book

Max loves playing dollhouse with Alia. As soon as we convert Alia's room to her big girl room, the dollhouse will move up there as well. She is VERY excited about having toys and some of her things in her room for private play time.

Facing Forward

Getting Max into his rear-facing car seat has been nearly impossible lately. I had to fight him as he kicked, turned and flailed all over the place. It was getting to the point where I was afraid I was going to hurt him because I was having to hold him so tight to get the straps on. The law is that kids have to be rear facing until 20 pounds and a year, but the new safety recommendation is until 2 years old! I wanted to try to keep him rear facing as long as I could, but when your child is in the 80-90% in height (and really feisty) it's just a bit trickier. So, I decided to do a little experiment with his car seat.

I figured that I would try facing his seat forward and if he still kicked and flailed, then he just didn't like being in the car, we would both deal with it and I would turn his seat back. If facing forward went better, than I would keep it. Well, in true Max fashion (he is either hot or cold with something, loves it or hates it) he absolutely LOVED it! He loved it so much that when we got home from the grocery store, he wouldn't let us take him out of the car seat, so we gave both kids a snack and just went for a drive so that he could enjoy the new view. What a little stinker!

Jason's Birthday

We helped Jason to celebrate the big 3-9 last week! On Saturday night we did a grown up celebration and we went out to one of our favorite restaurants, Toro Bravo, and ate until we could not eat anymore. Then on Monday night, we did a nice birthday dinner at home with the kids. Jason requested panini sandwiches for dinner and an ice cream cake for dessert. Did I get off easy or what? His birthday present was a ticket to Round 3 of the NCAA tourney that is coming to Portland in March. One of our good friend's birthday was just a few days before Jason's and his wife and I collaborated on a "joint" gift for the boys.
