16 Months

Here's a little update on Alia's life at the ripe old age of 16 months. If you have attempted to have a conversation with me on the phone anytime recently you know that she is a complete chatterbox and a little parrot. She repeats the last word of every sentence that we say. Jason and I have both already learned that we have a few habits that we need to change! We figure she has somewhere around 150-175 words or so right now. She remembers everything!

Alia is also very fascinated with bodily functions and the potty. So, we decided to try to harness some of that energy and we bought her a little potty seat for her bathroom upstairs. We sit her on it before bath time now and I am very proud to say that she has gone pee-pee in the potty two times now! Not sure we are quite ready for the real potty training deal yet, but I think it is right around the corner.

Some other interests of the little one right now are stickers, slides, blocks, being a "helper", throwing and kicking a ball and learning about shapes and colors.

You'll notice that in a lot of the recent pictures and videos Alia is wearing the same thing. That is not because they were all taken on the same day necessarily. It's because she has grown so much lately, she doesn't have a ton of options. She has outgrown most of her winter clothes and has lots of cute summer/spring clothes that she could wear but it isn't warm enough yet. So we are getting creative and layering and doing all we can to stretch her little wardrobe until the spring weather arrives. She is now pretty much wearing all 18-24 month size stuff now. Such a big girl!

Alia showing off a beautiful piece of sticker art!

Enjoying a snack and modeling her pigtails!

Hanging out and playing at Munchkin Playland. It's a big hit because it has a few slides that she climbs up and goes down over and over again.

Giving Mommy "the brow"

Playing in the water at the Children's Museum was a big hit. She needs to grow about one more inch to really be able to enjoy it. I figure she should have that accomplished by next week at the rate she's growing!

Posing for the camera!

Totally busted! I didn't mean to catch her eating off of the floor when I took this picture. She was trying to sit on the little bar at the bottom of the high chair and was saying "sit down". Then she kind of fell over and discovered a little treat while she was there. Goofy kid!
