Getting Max into his rear-facing car seat has been nearly impossible lately. I had to fight him as he kicked, turned and flailed all over the place. It was getting to the point where I was afraid I was going to hurt him because I was having to hold him so tight to get the straps on. The law is that kids have to be rear facing until 20 pounds and a year, but the new safety recommendation is until 2 years old! I wanted to try to keep him rear facing as long as I could, but when your child is in the 80-90% in height (and really feisty) it's just a bit trickier. So, I decided to do a little experiment with his car seat.
I figured that I would try facing his seat forward and if he still kicked and flailed, then he just didn't like being in the car, we would both deal with it and I would turn his seat back. If facing forward went better, than I would keep it. Well, in true Max fashion (he is either hot or cold with something, loves it or hates it) he absolutely LOVED it! He loved it so much that when we got home from the grocery store, he wouldn't let us take him out of the car seat, so we gave both kids a snack and just went for a drive so that he could enjoy the new view. What a little stinker!
